Holiday recipes: Carol’s Chex® party mix & New Year’s Eve cocktails

Making homemade Chex^® party mix is one of my favorite holiday traditions. And if you’re throwing a New Year’s Eve party, these cocktail recipes from the mixologists of William Grant & Sons  give the night extra sparkle.

Chex^® party mix is such a versatile snack, one that can be put out for parties or poured into a festive bag and given as a gift to just about anyone. And it’s so easy to make! Here is my mother’s adapted recipe, the same one I’ve been using for years:

Chex^® party mix

Ingredients:
3 cups wheat Chex^® cereal Ÿ 2 cups corn Chex^® cereal Ÿ 2 cups rice Chex^® cereal Ÿ ¾ cup salted mixed nuts Ÿ 12 T margarine Ÿ 8 tsp Worcestershire sauce Ÿ 2 tsp salt

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 250°.
2. Melt butter over low heat.
3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and salt.
4. Add cereals until coated.
5. Heat for 45 minutes in oven, turning every 15 minutes
6. Spread out on absorbent paper towel to cool.

Lillet Spritzer

Ingredients:
4 oz Lillet Blanc Ÿ ¾ oz Bols Triple Sec Ÿ Brut Champagne

Directions:
Build cocktail over ice, topping with Brut Champagne. Garnish with an orange slice.

Zandia Rouge

Ingredients:
2 oz Milagro silver core Ÿ handful diced Thai chilis Ÿ 1 ¼ oz fresh watermelon juice Ÿ ½ oz Lillet Rouge Ÿ ½ oz lemon juice Ÿ ½ oz simple syrup Ÿ Brut Champagne

Directions:
Serve on the rocks in a rocks glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a watermelon slice
