Holiday recipes: Carol’s Chex® party mix & New Year’s Eve cocktails
Making homemade Chex® party mix is one of my favorite holiday traditions. And if you’re throwing a New Year’s Eve party, these cocktail recipes from the mixologists of William Grant & Sons give the night extra sparkle.
Chex® party mix is such a versatile snack, one that can be put out for parties or poured into a festive bag and given as a gift to just about anyone. And it’s so easy to make! Here is my mother’s adapted recipe, the same one I’ve been using for years:
Chex® party mix
3 cups wheat Chex® cereal 2 cups corn Chex® cereal 2 cups rice Chex® cereal ¾ cup salted mixed nuts 12 T margarine 8 tsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp salt
- Heat oven to 250°.
- Melt butter over low heat.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and salt.
- Add cereals until coated.
- Heat for 45 minutes in oven, turning every 15 minutes
- Spread out on absorbent paper towel to cool.
4 oz Lillet Blanc ¾ oz Bols Triple Sec Brut Champagne
Build cocktail over ice, topping with Brut Champagne. Garnish with an orange slice.
2 oz Milagro silver core handful diced Thai chilis 1 ¼ oz fresh watermelon juice ½ oz Lillet Rouge ½ oz lemon juice ½ oz simple syrup Brut Champagne
Serve on the rocks in a rocks glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a watermelon slice
What do you put in your version of Chex® party mix? What’s your favorite party cocktail?
